As Elegant as the Name: We’re Featuring the Port Royal Sound

What if your next home didn’t just check the boxes—but completely changed the way you live?

Now available and priced to sell, the Port Royal Sound offers a rare opportunity to own a home that delivers both space and sophistication—paired with exquisite views of the Intracoastal Waterway that simply never get old. Morning coffee, evening sunsets, salty breezes… this is the kind of place people dream about.

With four bedrooms, three-and-a-half baths, and nearly 2,900 square feet, the Port Royal Sound stands as one of the most spacious plans we offer. And while its size is impressive, it’s the feeling of the home that truly sets it apart.

Who wouldn’t want to live here? Take a closer look:

A Coastal Design That Makes a Statement

Inspired by the quiet grandeur of its namesake, the Port Royal Sound blends classic Lowcountry architecture with a fresh, modern perspective. Twin carriage-style doors open to an oversized garage, while two full levels of beautifully designed living space rise above.

And yes—there’s a three-level elevator just off the garage, making everyday living as convenient as it is comfortable. Let’s join Hannah for a guided tour of this stunning property.

Elevated Style Without the Excess

This is a home that understands balance.

From rich hardwood floors to the chef’s kitchen anchored by an oversized island, every detail speaks to quality. The grand room’s natural stone fireplace adds warmth and character, while a tucked-away study offers the perfect space for a refined home office.

It’s elegant—but never overdone. Thoughtful—but never predictable.

Designed for Comfort, Built for Living

Each bedroom in the Port Royal Sound is designed with privacy and comfort in mind, featuring its own en suite or shared bath.

The primary suite is a true retreat—bathed in natural light, complete with a spacious seating area, a large walk-in closet, and a beautifully designed bath with dual vanities and a zero-entry shower.

Upstairs, additional bedrooms offer flexibility for family, guests, or even creative space—each continuing the home’s theme of quiet elegance and thoughtful design.

Outdoor Living on Every Level

Step outside, and the home truly comes alive.

A welcoming front porch invites slow mornings and easy conversations. Out back, the expansive covered patio offers endless possibilities—entertaining, relaxing, or even creating your own fitness or game space. There’s even an outdoor shower, perfect after a day on the water.

Upstairs, the second-floor outdoor living area becomes a natural gathering space, complete with a fireplace and adjacent dining area—ideal for hosting or unwinding under the coastal sky.

And then there’s the third-floor porch.

This is where the views take over. Wide, open, and perfectly positioned to capture the beauty of the Intracoastal Waterway—it’s the kind of space you’ll find yourself drawn to, day after day.

Bedroom Suites with Exquisite Design

Each of the Port Royal Sound’s bedrooms has a connected en suite. The largest, with a long dual vanity and cavernous zero-entry shower, belongs to the primary suite. Awash in natural light from wide bay windows, this owner’s suite exudes elegance, with a seating area and a large walk-in closet. On the floor above, one spacious bedroom has its own full bath, while two more bedrooms share a large Jack-and-Jill en suite. The bedrooms’ tall windows and discreet pocket doors continue the graceful theme.

Don’t Just Imagine It—Come See It

Homes like this don’t sit for long—especially when they combine location, views, and value in one compelling package.

The Port Royal Sound isn’t just a floor plan.

It’s a lifestyle.

And right now, it’s within reach.

Building Better on Earth Day: How Hagood Homes Turns Sustainability Into Action

Earth Day is a natural moment to reflect on how we build, what we build with, and the impact those choices have on the environment. At Hagood Homes, sustainability isn’t a once-a-year conversation—it’s built into our process every single day, from the earliest design decisions to the final clean-up on site.

We’ve always believed that building a high-quality home and being environmentally responsible go hand in hand. That philosophy shows up not only in the homes we design, but in the partners we choose and the systems we’ve put in place behind the scenes.

A Partnership That Keeps Waste Out of Landfills

One of the most important pieces of our eco-conscious approach is our long-standing partnership with Total Joe’s. Since 1996, they’ve been an integral part of our construction process, helping us maintain clean, organized job sites while dramatically reducing waste.

This isn’t your typical “dumpster and done” service. Total Joe’s manages debris removal throughout every phase of construction, ensuring that materials are sorted, handled properly, and diverted from landfills whenever possible. They keep our job sites safe, presentable, and efficient—something our homeowners notice when they visit their homes in progress.

More importantly, they help us turn what could be waste into something useful.

Turning Leftover Materials Into New Resources

No matter how thoughtfully a home is designed, construction naturally produces leftover materials. The difference is what you do with them.

At Hagood Homes, we’ve built a system that prioritizes reuse and recycling across the board:

  • Wood
Clean wood products—like framing scraps and pallets—don’t go to waste. Roughly 70% of these materials are recycled and processed into mulch, which is then reused by landscaping professionals and homeowners. What would have been landfill debris becomes a product that supports healthy outdoor environments.
  • Brick and Concrete
Leftover masonry materials are sent to specialized facilities where they’re crushed and repurposed into dense grade aggregate (DGA), also known as crush and run. This material is widely used for driveways, patios, and base layers—giving new life to what would otherwise be discarded.
  • Sheet Rock
Each year, we generate approximately 240 tons of sheet rock remnants. Instead of sending that to a landfill, it’s recycled into compost and topsoil. This process not only reduces waste but contributes to healthier soil that improves drainage, reduces runoff, and supports plant growth.
  • Cardboard
Packaging materials are another major contributor to construction waste. We recycle cardboard into new products, helping conserve resources while contributing to a cycle of renewable material use.
  • Thoughtful Design Reduces Waste Before It Starts

Sustainability doesn’t begin at the dumpster—it starts at the drawing board.

Our homes are intentionally designed to maximize usable space and minimize excess. Every square foot is planned with purpose, which naturally reduces the amount of material needed during construction. Less waste upfront means fewer leftovers at the end.

We also prioritize building materials that align with a low-waste, low-impact philosophy. That includes selecting products that are durable, efficient, and responsibly sourced whenever possible.

Clean Job Sites, Better Experience

There’s another benefit to this approach that often gets overlooked: the homeowner experience.

Because our job sites are consistently maintained and kept free of clutter, clients can walk through their home during construction and truly see its potential. Instead of navigating piles of debris, they see clean lines, open spaces, and the vision coming to life.

It’s a small detail—but it reflects a larger commitment to doing things the right way.

Building Homes—and Responsibility

Earth Day is a reminder that every industry has a role to play in protecting our environment. In homebuilding, that responsibility is significant—but so is the opportunity to make a meaningful impact.

At Hagood Homes, we’re proud of the systems we’ve built, the partners we work with, and the steps we take every day to reduce waste and build smarter. It’s not about perfection—it’s about progress, consistency, and making better choices at every stage of the process.

Because in the end, building a better home should also mean building a better future.

Experience the Hagood Difference at the 2026 Parade of Homes

There’s no better way to understand what makes a home truly exceptional than to step inside and experience it for yourself.

Join us over two weekends to tour three distinct homes, each thoughtfully designed, expertly crafted, and built to reflect the way people truly want to live today.

Parade of Homes Schedule

April 25–26 & May 2–3
12:00 PM – 5:00 PM

A Signature Statement: Harbour Side Canted

From the moment you arrive, the Harbour Side Canted makes an impression. Its distinctive angled garage creates a striking exterior presence, setting the tone for what’s inside.

Step through the front door and you’re greeted by a soaring two-story foyer filled with natural light. Custom millwork—wainscoting, crown molding, and detailed window trim—adds a level of craftsmanship that feels both refined and timeless.

This home isn’t just beautiful—it’s intentionally designed with larger proportions that elevate everyday living. Ten-foot ceilings, oversized doors and windows, and a dramatic vaulted great room create a sense of openness you immediately feel.

The heart of the home flows seamlessly from a spacious chef’s kitchen—anchored by a nearly ten-foot island—into a living space centered around a statement fireplace. Beyond that, a deep screened porch with a crushed-shell floor extends your living space outdoors in true coastal Carolina style.

Upstairs, a flexible bonus room with a full bath offers space to make your own—whether that’s a media room, office, or private retreat.

And just beyond the home itself, The Bluffs on the Cape Fear delivers a lifestyle that’s hard to match, with river access, trails, and resort-style amenities just minutes from downtown Wilmington.

Coastal Charm, Perfectly Sized: Heron Cove

The Heron Cove proves that a home doesn’t need to be massive to live beautifully.

With just over 2,100 square feet, this cottage-style design makes the most of every inch. The layout is efficient, open, and incredibly livable—exactly what today’s homeowners are looking for.

At Sunset Reach, this home takes on a distinctly coastal personality. The welcoming front porch, framed by classic columns and coastal details, sets a relaxed tone from the start.

Inside, the space opens into a bright, connected living area where the kitchen, dining, and great room flow together naturally. A vaulted ceiling adds volume, while the oversized island anchors the space for everyday living and entertaining.

Just beyond, a screened porch invites you to slow down and enjoy the setting—morning coffee, evening conversations, or simply a quiet moment overlooking nature.

The primary suite offers a private retreat with thoughtful design touches and a spa-inspired bath, while upstairs, a bonus room provides flexibility for guests, hobbies, or additional living space.

Set within a gated, riverfront community surrounded by mature trees and marsh views, the Heron Cove at Sunset Reach offers a balance that’s increasingly hard to find—peaceful, natural surroundings just a short drive from Wilmington.

Elevated Living Across Three Levels: Port Royal Sound

If you’re looking for space, flexibility, and architectural presence, the Port Royal Sound delivers on all fronts.

With over 2,900 square feet, this home reimagines Lowcountry design with a modern edge—offering three levels of thoughtfully designed living, all connected by a private elevator.

Located in East Wynd, the home balances grandeur with comfort. Rich hardwood floors, a chef’s kitchen with an oversized island, and a stunning fireplace create a sense of warmth that runs throughout.

What truly sets this home apart is how it embraces outdoor living.

Each level offers its own unique way to enjoy the coastal climate—from a welcoming front porch to a spacious ground-level patio, and a second-floor outdoor living room complete with a fireplace. At the top, an elevated porch provides sweeping views and a quiet place to unwind.

Inside, every bedroom is designed as a suite, giving family members and guests their own private space. The primary suite stands out with its natural light, expansive layout, and spa-like bath.

This is a home built not just for living—but for hosting, relaxing, and fully experiencing the coastal lifestyle.

See It for Yourself

You can read about craftsmanship. You can look at photos. But nothing compares to walking through a home and feeling how it all comes together.

That’s what makes the Parade of Homes special—and why it’s worth your time.

Whether you’re actively building, casually exploring, or simply looking for inspiration, these three homes offer a clear picture of what’s possible when design, quality, and livability come together.

Come tour all three. Take your time. Ask questions. And see firsthand what sets Hagood Homes apart.

Discover Move-In Ready Coastal Living at Sunset Reach

Tucked along the Cape Fear River in Castle Hayne, Sunset Reach is quickly becoming one of the most sought-after gated communities in the Wilmington area—and it’s easy to see why.

With its blend of natural beauty, riverfront access, and thoughtfully designed homes, Sunset Reach offers a lifestyle that feels both elevated and relaxed. And for those ready to make a move now, Hagood Homes currently has three exceptional move-in ready opportunities: the Heron Cove, St. Lucia, and Pebble Cove.

Each home showcases the craftsmanship, energy efficiency, and coastal-inspired design that define a Hagood home—while giving buyers the rare advantage of skipping the build timeline and settling in right away.

A Community Made for How You Want to Live

Before stepping inside the homes themselves, it’s worth understanding what makes Sunset Reach so special.

This gated community is designed to connect residents with both nature and convenience. Mature trees, walking trails, and planned amenities create a sense of retreat, while Wilmington’s dining, shopping, and beaches remain just a short drive away.

Future amenities include:

  • A riverfront marina
  • Clubhouse and pool
  • Fitness center
  • Walking and biking trails

It’s the kind of place where mornings start with a quiet walk under the trees and evenings wind down with sunset views over the water.

The Heron Cove: Classic Coastal Elegance

The Heron Cove offers a balance of open-concept living and private retreat spaces, making it ideal for both entertaining and everyday comfort.

Inside, you’ll find:

  • A spacious main living area filled with natural light
  • A thoughtfully designed kitchen with high-end finishes
  • Seamless indoor-outdoor flow

Our Patrick Wright recently toured this home, highlighting the details that truly set it apart—from trim work to layout decisions that make daily living easier.

The St. Lucia: Bright, Airy, and Built for Living

The St. Lucia stands out for its light-filled design and effortless flow. This home leans into coastal influences with clean lines, open spaces, and a layout that feels both modern and timeless.

Highlights include:

  • Expansive windows that bring the outdoors in
  • A well-appointed kitchen designed for gathering
  • Flexible living spaces that adapt to your needs

Patrick’s walkthrough gives a great sense of how the home lives day-to-day—not just how it looks.

The Pebble Cove: Smart Design Meets Comfort

The Pebble Cove is a perfect example of how thoughtful design can elevate everyday living. It’s efficient without sacrificing style, and every space feels intentional.

Inside, you’ll notice:

  • A layout that maximizes usable space
  • Comfortable living areas that feel connected yet distinct
  • Signature Hagood features focused on energy efficiency and indoor air quality

Patrick’s video tour walks through the design choices that make this home especially appealing for buyers looking for both function and finish.

Why Move-In Ready Matters Right Now

There’s something powerful about being able to walk into a home and know it’s ready.

No waiting on construction timelines.
No uncertainty around material delays.
No extended decision fatigue.

With these three homes, what you see is exactly what you get—and what you get is a fully realized Hagood home, built with attention to detail, performance, and long-term comfort.

Experience Sunset Reach for Yourself

Reading about these homes is one thing. Walking through them—or even watching Patrick’s tours—is where it really clicks.

Sunset Reach offers a rare combination:

A gated, natural setting
Proximity to Wilmington
High-quality, move-in ready homes

And opportunities like this don’t tend to last long.

If you’ve been thinking about making a move, this is your moment to step into a home—and a community—that’s already ready for you.

Take a Walk Through The Cooper

Elegant and airy, the Cooper offers 2,645 square feet of living space. Step inside a home crafted for Coastal Carolina living and discover light-filled interiors that open onto breezy outdoor retreats.

A Statement-Making Exterior

The Cooper impresses with architecture rooted in Lowcountry tradition. Dual carriage-house garage doors sit beneath classic trellises, while gabled rooflines soar overhead. Curved brackets draw your eye to stately peaks, and unique porthole windows add a distinctive coastal touch.

Step through an arched porch and arrive at a refined three-quarter-lite front door with sidelights. The entry welcomes with understated grace.

Step Into Open-Concept Living

Wide-plank hardwood floors flow from the foyer into an open-concept living space. A signature 9.5-foot kitchen island anchors the main living space. It serves as a central hub for casual meals and gatherings. The chef’s kitchen features a walk-in pantry, full-overlay cabinetry, and premium stainless-steel appliances. It balances high-end style with functional charm.

In the family room, a 42-inch fireplace draws focus, creating warmth and ambiance. Tall windows pour light into the seating and dining areas, making every moment feel inviting.

The Primary Suite: A Private Sanctuary

The primary suite is set back from the main living areas, accessed via a dedicated hallway. Triple windows provide scenic views and soft light. A private door opens onto the screened porch, perfect for quiet mornings and evening breezes.

The spa-inspired ensuite features a double vanity and a zero-entry shower connected to a 14-foot walk-in closet with expansive storage, customized to fit your lifestyle.

Indoor–Outdoor Living for Every Season

The mild Coastal Carolina climate invites outdoor living all year. Embracing this lifestyle, the Cooper provides a traditional screened porch, spacious enough for alfresco dining or lounging. On the second floor, a private porch offers an elevated, quiet retreat for fresh air.

Versatility on the Second Floor

The first floor emphasizes open-plan living. Upstairs, the focus shifts to functionality and flexibility. A spacious lounge can be a media room, hobby studio, or fitness area. A built-in niche suits a home office, library, or reading nook.

Ideal for overnight guests, two secondary bedrooms share a full bath. The flexible floor plan also allows adding a fourth bedroom with a private bath, making the Cooper exceptional for growing families or multigenerational living.

Signature Design: Volume, Light, and Craftsmanship

Six-foot windows, eight-foot doors, and ten-foot ceilings create volume and light throughout. Our coastal trim package adds finely detailed millwork, a hallmark of Southern homes. This design extends to five-inch hardwood floors, solid-core doors, and premium finishes throughout. While many of these exceptional features are standard, Hagood’s design services can help you tailor your home to match your specific preferences and style.

Coastal elegance, thoughtful design, and adaptable functionality blend within the Cooper. This plan truly lives large. Schedule your tour of the Cooper or another Hagood home—contact our team today to get started.

Personalizing Your Dream Home with Hagood

When it comes to building your dream home, the process can be stressful. That’s why it’s important to choose the right builder to help bring your vision to life. For over 25 years, Hagood Homes has been designing and building coastal Carolina homes with a focus on care and integrity. It all begins with one of our award-winning floorplans.

Customized Vs. Personalized

The idea of a custom-built home – a one-of-kind that is uniquely yours – is appealing for some buyers, but it can come with a heftier price tag and a more complex and lengthier process flow that not everyone is interested in. At Hagood Homes, we can refine and personalize every plan in our portfolio to give homeowners the lifestyle features they’re looking for along with a more custom feel without the fully-custom price tag.

Once you select one of our floorplans, we can work closely with you to meet your personalized wishes. Our designers can work with you to help make small adjustments to personalize the floor plan or elevation to help make your new home feel more like a one-of-a-kind. Our sales team also works closely with the design team as advisors to help you personalize the plans to fit your lifestyle and ensure budgets are being put to the highest and best use.

Take a look at the images below to see examples of how our homeowners have customized their Cape Lookout elevation.

And here are examples of how homeowners have customized their fireplace and built-ins, both included features at Hagood Homes.

Top Outdoor Upgrades That Add Year-Round Living Space

In the coastal Carolinas, outdoor living isn’t a seasonal luxury – it’s a way of life. Hagood Homes embraces this philosophy with thoughtfully included outdoor living spaces, while strategic upgrades extend those year-round experiences.

Screened Porches and Four-Season Rooms: The Foundation of Outdoor Living

A hallmark of Southern architecture, the screened porch has long served as a breezy haven for morning coffee and evening gatherings. Set just off the main living area, these insect-free sanctuaries offer a seamless transition between indoors and out.

For consistent year-round comfort, many homeowners upgrade to a four-season room. With ceiling fans, discreet heaters, and even fireplaces, four-season rooms transform a porch into a true outdoor living room. Enjoy panoramic views with protection from wind and rain – and open the windows whenever it’s time to let in a fresh breeze.

Outdoor Kitchens: Culinary Spaces Designed for Entertaining

Modern outdoor living extends far beyond the traditional backyard barbecue. With grilling stations, dedicated prep areas, and stone countertops, a custom outdoor kitchen elevates outdoor entertaining – from weekend cookouts to dining under the stars.

Luminous Living: The Art of Fire and Light

Gas fire pits and outdoor fireplaces add functional warmth and glowing ambiance to crisp Carolina evenings. Clean-burning and low-maintenance, fire features are natural gathering hubs, often paired with built-in seating and defined patio zones that invite easy conversation.

Exterior lighting can transform your outdoor spaces just as dramatically. Tree uplighting, pathway fixtures, and programmable string lights create nightscapes that keep your outdoor areas inviting long after the sun sets.

    Resort-Inspired Pools and Water Features

For many homeowners, the ultimate outdoor upgrade is a custom pool – transforming a backyard into a resort-style getaway, complete with sun shelves for lounging and integrated spas for luxurious soaking. From courtyard-style configurations that maximize privacy to U-shaped layouts that wrap around the home, each pool is tailored to the lot and floor plan.

Those seeking a sanctuary on a smaller scale may opt for water features instead. A stone water wall or a trickling fountain offers soothing soundscapes that turn any outdoor area into a tranquil haven.

    Elevated Hardscapes and Coastal Landscaping

Pavers, brick, and natural stone can meaningfully expand your living footprint at ground level. Well-designed hardscapes seamlessly integrate patios, custom seating walls, and walkways into defined spaces for gathering and entertaining.

Professional landscape design further enhances the outdoor experience. A landscape consultation helps ensure lasting beauty with minimal maintenance through coastal grasses, native palms, and salt-tolerant plantings. Strategically placed living walls and layered landscaping add privacy while creating intimate outdoor spaces.

    Private Balconies and Second-Story Retreats

Outdoor living isn’t limited to ground level. Intimate and removed from the high-traffic areas of the home, covered second-story porches and private balconies are perfect spots for morning coffee and sunset views.

Thoughtfully designed outdoor upgrades do more than add value – they transform your home into a year-round expression of coastal living. Contact a member of our team today to begin designing your personalized outdoor living experience.

5 Ways to Make Your Home Feel Brighter During Winter

Despite the famously welcoming weather of the Coastal Carolinas, the shorter days and lower light of winter can make even the most inviting homes feel dim. With a few intentional adjustments, you can create brighter, more vibrant spaces.

    1. Maximize Natural Light

Natural light is the foundation of a bright home – especially in winter. Capturing and amplifying every available ray of sunshine can make rooms feel larger and boost your home’s natural energy.

    • Clear the Sightlines: Move furniture, large décor pieces, and tall plants away from window areas to give sunlight an unobstructed path.
    • Reflect & Redirect: Place mirrors on walls perpendicular to windows to bounce daylight deeper into the space. Incorporate reflective finishes – such as glass tabletops, brass, or chrome – to scatter light further.
    • Adjust Window Treatments: Pull back heavy drapery during daylight hours. Consider sheer or light-filtering treatments that offer privacy without sacrificing brightness.

    2. Layer Your Lighting

When the sun sets early, artificial lighting must work harder to compensate. A layered approach to illumination eliminates shadows that make rooms feel smaller and darker.

    • Layer for Depth: Supplement overhead lighting with under-cabinet LEDs, floor lamps, and reading lamps to build a warm, textured environment.
    • Upgrade Your Bulbs: For crisp light that mimics midday sun, swap yellow-toned bulbs for LEDs labeled “Daylight” or “Bright White” (around 5,000K).

    3. Integrate Smart Technology

By programming your home to match the sun’s rhythm, you can ensure your spaces feel bright and energized.

    • Automate Your Shades: Many existing blinds can be motorized using retrofit devices. Scheduling shades to open at dawn and close at dusk maximizes available sunlight.
    • Embrace Circadian Rhythm: Smart bulbs and automated systems can transition interior lighting from crisp tones during the day to amber hues in the evening – aligning your home with your body’s internal clock.
    • Create Audio Sunshine: Pair lighting routines with smart audio soundscapes – such as upbeat morning playlists or nature sounds – to enhance the overall atmosphere of brightness and energy.

    4. Refresh Your Color Palette

A simple swap for a lighter, more reflective décor palette can help counter the muted tones of winter.

    • Lighten Your Textiles: Replace dark throws, rugs, and pillows with tones such as cream, pale gray, or champagne to naturally reflect light.
    • Add Energetic Pops: A few restrained splashes of sky blue, soft yellow, seafoam, or coral can energize a room against the flat winter light.

    5. Declutter to Let Light Flow

Visual clutter can dull even the best lighting plan. Simplified spaces allow light to move freely, carrying an openness that feels inviting.

Use Your Storage Spaces: Pantries, drop zones, and walk-in attic spaces are all easily accessible for storing off-season items – making decluttering simpler than you might think.
Clear Surfaces: Reducing the number of accent pieces on tabletops, mantels, and counters lowers visual noise, allowing surface areas to reflect more light.

A brighter home in winter is about more than just adding light – it’s about making thoughtful choices that support comfort and openness in every season. To learn more about homes designed around how you live, contact a member of the Hagood Homes team today.

Move-In Ready vs. Building New: What’s Right for You in 2026?

Choosing your next home may be one of the most consequential decisions you’ll make. The decision often starts with a simple question: build a home or buy a move-in-ready one?

As we look to 2026, understanding the key differences in timeline, customization, and overall experience can empower you to choose the path that best aligns with your vision.

Timelines: Immediate Occupancy vs. Strategic Planning

For many buyers, timing is the primary decision driver between building and buying an existing home.

    • A move-in-ready home delivers speed and certainty. With construction complete or nearly complete, the process typically moves quickly; you may be able to move from offer to keys in hand in a matter of weeks. It’s an excellent option for people coordinating the sale of another home or facing a similar move-in deadline.
    • Building a home follows a deliberate, phased timeline. While situations vary, you can expect about eight months to build a custom home from start to finish. Over that period, you’ll go through design and development in stages. This approach offers more control and predictability for buyers who wish to plan ahead.

    Personalization: Curated vs. Creative Control

    • With professionally curated finishes and design elements, move-in homes appeal to a wide range of buyers. You can have confidence in the aesthetics.
    • When building a home, you do the curating. Through a collaborative design process, you make informed selections—from floor plan refinements to finish details—ensuring your home reflects your style.

The Homesite: Established Setting vs. Intentional Selection

The homesite is one of the most significant differences between the two paths.

    • With a move-in-ready home, you’re often choosing an established neighborhood with completed landscaping.
    • When choosing your homesite, you may select a site based on elevation, views, or privacy. You can consider how community amenities match your lifestyle, such as water access, golf, a pool and clubhouse, top-rated schools, or tranquil nature trails.

Cost & Value: Price Certainty vs. Pricing Upgrades

    • With clear, upfront pricing, move-in-ready homes typically appeal to buyers who want straightforward financing.
    • Building costs can change if you decide to upgrade a floor plan or finish during the design process.

The Experience: Transactional Ease vs. Collaborative Journey

    • Buying a move-in-ready home is usually a straightforward transaction.
    • Building a home is a collaborative partnership. From initial planning to the final walk-through, it’s a guided journey to create your ideal living spaces. The right builder will provide more than a blueprint; they offer guided expertise.

Choosing between a move-in-ready home and building ultimately comes down to what you value most—speed and simplicity or customization and intentional planning.

With the right guidance, each option can deliver a home that supports how you want to live in 2026 and far beyond. To talk about which option may be best for you, contact a member of the Hagood Homes team today.
