Our Latest On-Your-Land Home – Herring Lane in Wilmington, N.C.

We’re proud to present the Harbour Town II Canted, which was built in the Bradley Creek area in Wilmington, N.C. This home sits on a lot that backs up to Bradley Creek, which connects to the Intracoastal Waterway and eventually Masonboro Inlet.

We love the integration with the outdoors that this home offers. In addition to the covered front porch, there are two outdoor decks on the back of the home.     St. James Splendor: The Woods Cove

    We’re excited to showcase our latest home in St. James Plantation, the Woods Cove. This popular plan is 2,525 square feet and features four bedrooms and three-and-half bathrooms. The Woods Cove has quickly become a popular choice in areas where we build, so it made sense  to bring this home to St. James Plantation.

    When you step into the home, a bright foyer with custom wainscoting welcomes you into the space. There is a half bath for guests off to the left, as well as a coat closet and stairs to the second floor. 

     

    As you leave the foyer you enter the large, open great room that includes the living, dining and kitchen areas. Vaulted ceilings increase the vertical volume, giving the room an expansive feel.  Hardwood floors run throughout. 

       

    Upper and lower cabinets, as well as storage in the center island, give homeowners plenty of space for cooking wares and small appliance storage. Also in abundance is the counter space for food preparation and entertaining. We find the oversized island to be the heart of the home, with family and friends gathering and sharing precious memories and delicious meals. A large dining area to the left of the kitchen creates even more space for fellowship and feasting. 

    One of our favorite aspects of the Woods Cove is the enormous sunroom off the living space in the great room. Two glass doors leading to the sunroom are flanked by large 6-foot glass panels with dividers. The sunroom is fully insulated and features floor-to-ceiling double-pane windows. The windows bring the outdoors in, yet their quality construction helps ensure that the room stays climate controlled throughout the year. When homeowners wish to open the windows, a ceiling fan can help keep the air circulating during the dog days of summer. 

       

    The master bedroom is situated on the main level of the home, just off the kitchen and opposite the other two first-floor bedrooms. The tray ceilings add dimension and personality to the space. Homeowners absolutely love the dream closet with a space for everything, including purses, shoes, handbags, hanging clothes and even a dirty clothes hamper. 

    Second floor flex space give owners the option of a private guest suite, secluded office or comfy entertainment space. The full upstairs bathroom means guests can handle all their grooming in their own space, without having to go up and down the stairs. There is also a huge walk-in attic space that is accessible on the second floor.

      Introducing the Harbour Side – Our Newest Plan for 2021!

      Hagood Homes is introducing a new home plan for 2021 – Harbour Side. With its classic style and coastal features, the Harbor Side plan echoes the charm and nostalgia of Carolina coastal cottages. But because it comes from Hagood Homes, a top home builder specializing in coastal N.C. and S.C. home construction, it features exceptional amenities and thoughtful features.

      This plan was inspired by our Harbour Town series, which has become a popular pick among buyers in recent years. But the Harbour Side is the perfect option for those buyers that love the Harbour Town II or Harbour Town III, but don’t have a need for the second story balcony or want for quite as much square footage.

      Welcoming in Every Way

      An inviting front porch, carriage-style garage doors, and two dormer windows give the Harbor Side home immediate curb appeal. Extended window arbors are a modern interpretation of those found on Carolina coastal homes dating back decades. The arbors are not only attractive, but they provide needed shade on hot summer days. A two-car garage offers ample room for storage.

      Open and Airy

      Harbour Side’s first floor includes 2,210 heated square feet, all well-planned to maximize every inch. The entryway off the front porch opens up to a two-story foyer, with nearly 17 feet from floor to ceiling. The windows in the dormer above the front porch are actually function and allow natural light to enter into the home’s expansive foyer. Off the foyer is a large open-concept main living area that consists of a living room with a gas log fireplace, dining room, and kitchen. Its easy flow makes it perfect for entertaining guests or for enjoying quieter days with family.

      The kitchen, the heart of every home, has a large island that features furniture styling, including a valance, squared legs, furniture base, and shiplap on the back. Cove crown molding above the cabinets adds elegance to the room. To reflect their personal style, homebuyers can choose from 16 different paint options and 11 different stains options for their cabinetry and island.

      Of course, the functionality of a kitchen is as important as its appearance.       “Just moved in to our new Hagood Homes Cape Lookout in Compass Pointe! We’ve been here 1 week and the house is fantastic. We spent a good bit of time trying to decide on a builder and ultimately were trying to decide between Kent Homes and Hagood Homes. The sales associates at both builders were very helpful and knowledgeable. Josh with Hagood was exceptionally responsive, friendly, and easy to work with. We chose Hagood for several reasons. First, they are the only builder in CP who use the spray foam insulation as a standard offering. Other builders seemed a bit reluctant to do it even as an upgrade. My husband was a believer from the start but now that we are in the home, the “energy wrap” works really well. I’m a convert! Second, the included features of the home were items that would have been an upgrade with other builders (e.g., three course foundation rather than 2 so the house sits higher up, 8 ft interior door height, larger windows than standard, elegant interior trim, among other items). Third, the floor-plan was exactly what we were looking for and we did not need to do any customization. Josh told us that the Cape Lookout was created based on customer feedback and essentially is a tweak of one of their other floor-plans. This speaks to the fact that they listen to their customers. Finally, most other builders offer several elevations for each floor plan; and the nicer elevations are considered upgrades. With Hagood there is one elevation (they offer the nicest one and call it a day), the one that you see in the model/floor plan. Although you can customize, I liked the fact that I was getting what I was seeing. I don’t like to be nickel and dimed so this was a huge factor for me.

      Once the decision was made to go with Hagood, things moved pretty quickly with selections, which was a 3 day process. Everyone was very helpful. There was absolutely no pressure to upgrade anything. We felt like we drove the process. From ground breaking to closing was approximately 6-7 months. Throughout the process, everyone was very responsive. We were “monitoring” the build from out of state, so the Buildertrend app that they use is very helpful. The Project Manager uploads pictures along the way so you can follow the progress from afar.

      Finally, I do want to speak to the quality. The house is well built and the 2 things I’ve noticed so far is that it is very quiet inside (good windows and insulation) and with it being 90+ degrees outside the thermostat is set at 75 and at times we were cold. The attic/storage area is just about the same temperature as the rest of the house thanks to the spray foam insulation! It was a great decision to go with Hagood. We did upgrade a few things but for the most part we built an “off the shelf” home that actually feels very custom. Hagood offers a 30 day walk-through so that they can fix any major issues and then a 1 year walk through where they will fix drywall dings and other cosmetic items. Like any build nothing is perfect and there are a list of items that we have already; nothing major. Based on their customer service to date, I have full confidence that they will continue in that vein.

      About the Parade Judging 

      The annual Parade of Homes™ is a showcase of the finest new homes in southeastern North Carolina and a competition between builder members. Builders put everything on the line to compete for bragging rights in varying price categories. The judges are selected from home builder associations outside Wilmington to ensure impartiality and a fair competition. Judges have extensive knowledge of new home construction and design. 

      While the Gold, Silver and Bronze award winners are determined by a panel of judges, the People’s Choice award is a unique contest where the public votes for their favorite home. The contest is run through social media, where one like equals one vote. The people have spoken, and they loved the Baja Cove! 

      History of Excellence

      Eco-Friendly Construction Waste

      We pride ourselves on thoughtful design so that every inch of a Hagood home is used, with not a nook or cranny unused. That same low-waste philosophy goes into our construction materials. But like most Hilton Head and Wilmington new home builders, there is inevitably materials that are not used during the construction process. From finding uses for wood remnants to recycling cardboard packaging, we aim to find eco-friendly ways to minimize waste in our homebuilding.

      Wood

      Wood is primarily used during the house framing process. However, many materials arrive on wood pallets that are left over once a home is complete. We recycle 70 percent of clean wood products, including two-by-fours from framing or pallets, to make a clean mulch. This wood mulch is then dyed and reused by third-party landscaping professionals.

      Brick and Concrete

      Brick and concrete are used in our homes’ foundations, exteriors, patios and driveways. The material that is left over is sent to a facility that makes crush and run, which is also known as ABC stone or dense grade aggregate (DGA). Both ABC stone and DGA contain pulverized stone, stone dust and often mixed with tiny pieces of gravel and limestone. In turn, DGA and ABC are used in parking lots, patio bases and temporary driveways.

      Sheet Rock

      We have approximately 240 tons of sheet rock remnants each year. This material is sent to a recycling plant to make compost and topsoil. We partner with McGill Environmental Systems at its coastal Carolinas composting facility for this effort. McGill Environmental Systems manufactures premium compost products through the recycling of non-hazardous, biodegradable byproducts. An added bonus is that McGill SoilBuilder Premium Compost is good for the soil and the planet. According to McGill, SoilBuilder compost reduces irrigation requirements and stormwater runoff up to 50 percent. It also improves drainage and nutrient uptake for plants, trees and turf.

      Cardboard

      We partner with Sonoco Recycling for our cardboard recycling program. The cardboard from various packaging is recycled into new cardboard. Sonoco collects more than 3 million tons of recyclables in more than 100 towns across the U.S each year and help over 15,000 companies save money, resources and create clean, renewable energy. We appreciate their commitment to transform challenges into opportunities and create more sustainable communities and businesses.
