About the Parade

The 35th Annual Brunswick County Parade of Homes is sponsored by the Brunswick County Home Builders Association, a non-profit organization representing all facets of the building industry in southeastern North Carolina.

This year, the Brunswick County Parade of Homes features 30 new homes from Leland to Calabash, 27 of which are open to the public during the parade and 36 homes are available for virtual tour.

Featured Plan: Shelter Cove

The Shelter Cove is one of the newest additions to the Cove Collection. A new creation by our passionate founder and designer of every Hagood Home, Troy Kenny combines elements of other masterpiece plans she has crafted over the years, blending details based on homeowner feedback along with her newest inspirations and ideas for homes along the coastal Carolinas. Already drawn with several different outside elevations (pictured above and below) and designed specifically for wider homesites, this plan is sure to be a popular one for years to come!

From first glance, the elaborate front porch of the Shelter Cove catches every passer-by’s eye, beckoning a closer look or a longer gaze as curiosity grows to see how the home looks inside. The Shelter Cove boasts an airy open floor plan, likened to the other seven home plans in the Cove Collection. Timber Ridge

Harbour Side Canted Guided Preview

How to Make Your House Feel Like a Vacation Home this Summer

In our homes, you’ll feel like you are on vacation all the time. Their coastal-inspired designs and resort-style features can make any day feel like a getaway. To help you enhance the summertime vibes, we have created a list of decorating ideas for nearly every room in your home.

Create an Airy Feel with Curtains

No matter which side of the debate you are on – window treatments or bare windows – there is something to be said for watching curtains blow in a breeze through an open window. Our homes are designed with lots of windows to bring in natural light, so consider installing lightweight or sheer drapes in white, a neutral color or a tropical-inspired print. They can filter light, add a little texture and provide the finishing touches to a room. With warmer summer temps, you most likely will not have your windows open during the day, but as the evenings get cooler, you may want to throw open your windows and let the cooler breezes in.

Incorporate Fresh, Crisp Bedding

Total Joe’s provides construction waste and debris removal solutions that go above and beyond traditional services. Total Joe’s partnership with us is integral to our building process, not only for the services they provide, but for their customer-centric approach.

Services & Specialties

Total Joe’s doesn’t just show up at the completion of each one of Hagood Homes’ Wilmington or Hilton Head new home projects. They maintain the site throughout every phase of construction. They not only pick up and dispose of debris in the dumpsters, but they also service the entire property – inside and out – keeping it clean and presentable so that each time a client visits their dream home in progress, they can visualize its possibilities without debris and obstacles in the way.

Recycling Unused Materials

As with any construction project, there will be some materials leftover at the end. Total Joe’s recycles all of our leftover clean wood products, including two-by-fours and pallets, and turns them into mulch. This service eliminates the need to send residual wood to a landfill. Instead, it becomes a new, sellable product that gets used by landscaping professionals and homeowners.

Eco-Friendly Approach

At Hagood Homes, we select all building materials with low-waste, low environmental impact in mind. Specifically:

Wood: Primarily used during the framing process. However, many materials arrive on wood pallets that are left over once a home is complete. We recycle 70% of clean wood products.

Brick & Concrete: Used in our homes’ foundations, exteriors, patios and driveways. Left over material is sent to a facility that makes crush and run (aka ABC stone or dense grade aggregate).

Sheet Rock: We have approximately 240 tons of sheet rock remnants each year. This material is sent to a recycling plant to make compost and topsoil.

Cardboard: Leftovers are recycled into new cardboard, which in turn saves money, resources and creates clean, renewable energy.

With its canted roofline and three-window dormers, the Pointe Harbor Canted is a standout addition to the Hagood Homes collection of coastal home plans. This four-bedroom, 3.5 bath home has a total of 2,379-square feet and is available to tour until October 2021. Inviting in Every Way

The Pointe Harbor Canted’s columned front porch leads to a welcoming foyer with a handy coat closet and a Hagood Homes signature feature – a drop zone for shoes, keys, backpacks, and other frequently used and misplaced items.

The foyer opens up to an open living area that includes the family room, kitchen, and dining room. The family room features an attractive gas log fireplace for chilly evenings, with built-in bookshelves and cabinetry on both sides.

As with every Hagood Home plan, the Pointe Harbor Canted puts the kitchen at the heart of the home. The kitchen in our Pointe Harbor Canted home features an oversized island, under-cabinet lighting, tile backsplash, and energy-efficient appliances as standard features. The Point Harbor Canted also features an enormous pantry right off the kitchen with custom-made shelving and a sliding barn door. A convenient half-bath is located directly across from the panty.

Master En Suite

Tucked behind the kitchen is the owner’s bedroom suite. It features ample space and abundant natural light from its four windows, which look into the back yard. The floorplan offers two great options for the owner’s bath. Both feature a dressing area, double sinks, zero-entry shower and an enclosed toilet area, but you can truly make the master bath your own by selecting a standalone tub or his- and-her closets.

At the other end of the home are two more bedrooms and a second full bath with a walk-in shower. This configuration, with the bedrooms at separate ends of the home, gives the owner a little privacy and distance from other family members or guests.

Outdoor and Bonus Spaces

One of the reasons people love living in the Carolinas is the region’s moderate, four-season climate. That’s why we designed the Pointe Harbor Canted with a generous-sized screened porch. It’s the perfect place to enjoy your morning coffee and large enough to accommodate multiple people for al fresco meals. Access to the porch is through double French doors off the living area.

Another “extra” living space in this floorplan is the lounge area above the garage. You can use this space in so many ways – as a kids’ area, office, exercise room, entertainment and game room, or an extra bedroom for guests. The home’s third full bath is located in this bonus space.

An oversized two-car, carriage-style garage is a prominent feature of the Pointe Harbor Canted home. It is connected by a door to the home’s laundry area, making it convenient and easy to drop off clothes for cleaning after a busy day outdoors.

Compass Pointe Homes For Sale – Neighborhood Update June 2021

We’re excited to announce both Compass Pointe and Hagood Homes are having a record-breaking year for home sales. We have numerous spec and model homes underway. Take some time to watch the videos below from Sales Manager Josh Adams, where he tours Compass Pointe’s newest sections from June 2021.

Being built within Timber Ridge, the newest section of Compass Pointe, excellent progress is being made on four (cape lookout – 131, Calibogue – 134, Harbourside – 77. Harbour Town III – 241) beautiful model homes. The desirable location along the 18th hole of the Compass Pointe golf course creates a stunning backdrop for these properties.

The West Gate

Josh explores the progress at the newest entrance to Compass Pointe, the West Gate off 74 / 76 Interstate. Construction is underway on the future commercial zone where retail and restaurants will be available for residents. Highland Forest

Highland Forest is almost fully built, with only a few home sites still under development. This neighborhood is home to our former model, the Cape Lookout, and several recently completed home builds. We also have two homes currently under construction in Highland Forest, a Cape Lookout and Harbour Town II. We’ll also be starting construction on a Harbour Side home.

“Just moved in to our new Hagood Homes Cape Lookout in Compass Pointe! We’ve been here 1 week and the house is fantastic. We spent a good bit of time trying to decide on a builder and ultimately were trying to decide between Kent Homes and Hagood Homes. The sales associates at both builders were very helpful and knowledgeable. Josh with Hagood was exceptionally responsive, friendly, and easy to work with. We chose Hagood for several reasons. First, they are the only builder in CP who use the spray foam insulation as a standard offering. Other builders seemed a bit reluctant to do it even as an upgrade. My husband was a believer from the start but now that we are in the home, the “energy wrap” works really well. I’m a convert! Second, the included features of the home were items that would have been an upgrade with other builders (e.g., three course foundation rather than 2 so the house sits higher up, 8 ft interior door height, larger windows than standard, elegant interior trim, among other items). Third, the floor-plan was exactly what we were looking for and we did not need to do any customization. Josh told us that the Cape Lookout was created based on customer feedback and essentially is a tweak of one of their other floor-plans. This speaks to the fact that they listen to their customers. Finally, most other builders offer several elevations for each floor plan; and the nicer elevations are considered upgrades. With Hagood there is one elevation (they offer the nicest one and call it a day), the one that you see in the model/floor plan. Although you can customize, I liked the fact that I was getting what I was seeing. I don’t like to be nickel and dimed so this was a huge factor for me.

Once the decision was made to go with Hagood, things moved pretty quickly with selections, which was a 3 day process. Everyone was very helpful. There was absolutely no pressure to upgrade anything. We felt like we drove the process. From ground breaking to closing was approximately 6-7 months. Throughout the process, everyone was very responsive. We were “monitoring” the build from out of state, so the Buildertrend app that they use is very helpful. The Project Manager uploads pictures along the way so you can follow the progress from afar.

Finally, I do want to speak to the quality. The house is well built and the 2 things I’ve noticed so far is that it is very quiet inside (good windows and insulation) and with it being 90+ degrees outside the thermostat is set at 75 and at times we were cold. The attic/storage area is just about the same temperature as the rest of the house thanks to the spray foam insulation! It was a great decision to go with Hagood. We did upgrade a few things but for the most part we built an “off the shelf” home that actually feels very custom. Hagood offers a 30 day walk-through so that they can fix any major issues and then a 1 year walk through where they will fix drywall dings and other cosmetic items. Like any build nothing is perfect and there are a list of items that we have already; nothing major. Based on their customer service to date, I have full confidence that they will continue in that vein.

Included Lighting Features in Hagood New Construction Homes

At Hagood Homes we allocate a very healthy lighting allowance, much higher than many other builders. In fact, at Compass Pointe and St. James Plantation buyers have up to $3,700 allocated for lighting. The sizable lighting budget means our buyers are able to have higher-end fixtures or more customizable lighting options included.
But, recessed lighting and under-cabinet lighting are always included in our home’s base price. They do not come out of the lighting budget. However, many other builders do not include these premium lighting options. So buyers are forced to use their lighting allowance to pay for these items. This is just another way that we build value into each and every home we build.

Another way that we differ from other builders is not limiting their lighting options into a pre-set package. Other builders often have pre-selected lighting packages. While these packages help the builder keep their costs down, it limits personalization and tends to make all their homes look the same over time. Because we focus on a healthy lighting allowance and a personalized design process, our homes truly encapsulate the individual’s aesthetic and preferences. So each home we build has your unique touches and individual style throughout.
